Dick never wanted to be Batman, yet he always finds himself in those shoes over and over, the go too if Bruce is away or dead, stuck in his father caped shadow. So when Dick had to take over after Bruce seemingly just disappeared, Dick wasn't surprised, begrudgingly agreeing to put the cape and cowl on again. Only for years to pass with no sign of Bruce's return, Dick now taking the title of CEO for Wayne Enterprises as well.

Dick had decided a few years into this to let his family cover for him as he visited Haly's Circus when they came to town. Only to see the acrobat fall after a bang rang across the tent, leaving a small child watching in horror. A cruel mirror to his past. Dick took you in, knowing how he was in the past. He wasn't about to let another fall to anger like he had back then.
