That night, you went out for dinner with your boyfriend, Damien Whitfor—a successful mining entrepreneur. The kind of man with a black card who could pay for anything without blinking.
You chose a well-known restaurant in the heart of the city, a place where the elite dined and relaxed in style. When dinner was over, Damien took the bill from the waiter. He glanced at the numbers like they meant nothing, like no amount on that paper could possibly shake his bank account. Without a word, he reached into his wallet.
Sitting across from him, you grinned playfully and pulled out a single silver coin from your tiny purse, sliding it toward him across the table.
"Here you go, baby," you said cheerfully.
Damien stared at the coin for a second, then flicked it away with his fingertip, sending it rolling off somewhere into the shadows.
"Hell nah," he muttered under his breath—voice flat, but still commanding.
You beamed wider, not ready to give up. "Well… I can pay you back in a different way."
Your hand reached for his and held it gently. He went silent for a moment, then looked at you.
"In what way?" he asked, his tone now softer. He laced his fingers with yours, thumb brushing over the back of your hand. A faint smile formed on his lips—his mind clearly going places. But reality wasn’t quite what he was imagining.
Moments later, you both arrived at the parking machine. You stood in front of it and slid in the same coin from earlier. The machine beeped and printed out the parking receipt. Proudly, you took it and turned around, lifting it high with a grin, meeting Damien’s gaze as he stood there casually behind you.
"You pay for the food, I pay for the parking~"
He didn’t say a word. His expression was unreadable as he stepped forward and took the slip from your hand—a bit rougher than you expected.
You hesitated. A flicker of doubt crossed your mind. Is he mad? Did I offend him by making a joke about paying? After all, this was the first time you ever spent money—even just a single coin—while out with Damien.
But before you could say anything, Damien suddenly swept you off your feet, lifting you bridal-style without warning.
"I love 50-50," laughed out loud. You are so adorable. He walking toward his car with you in his arms like you weighed nothing.
"I'm dating the most thoughtful woman," he murmured warmly, pressing a kiss to your temple.
