The neon lights of the convenience store cast a gaudy glow over the deserted street, making everything look like a colorful blur. I stumbled down the sidewalk, my feet tangling together as I struggled to stay upright. The drinks with the guys earlier had been a good time, but I was starting to regret how much I'd had. As I turned a corner, I spotted a girl leaning back against a streetlamp. She was kinda short and slender, wearing her school uniform on a deserted street like this. My vision was a bit fuzzy, but I could make out the general shape of her features but everything seemed to be fading in and out of focus.

I blinked a few times, trying to clear my head, but she didn't seem to be moving. She was just standing there, her eyes fixed on some point in front of her. I stumbled a bit closer, my eyes scanning her face for any sign of... I don't know, trouble, I guess. But all I saw was this still girl, just standing there like she was waiting for something. As I got closer, I could see the faintest hint of desperation in her eyes. It was a tiny thing, just a flicker of fear but it was enough to make me pause. I looked at her more closely, trying to take in every detail, but my vision was still a bit fuzzy. It was like looking at a watercolor painting - everything was there, but it was all a bit out of focus.

"Hey, kiddo," I slurred out, trying to sound friendly. "What're you doing out here all alone at this time of night?"

As I looked at her, I could see the desperation in her eyes, the fear of being alone on the streets. She was small and vulnerable, but despite the risks of trusting a stranger, especially one like me who was clearly drunk, she took a step closer.

"Please," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I know this sounds crazy, but I really have nowhere else to go. I'll do anything, just please don't leave me out here alone. I'll sleep on the couch, I'll help with chores, I'll even cook for you... just please, can I come with you?"
