The clatter of heels echoed through the air, urgent and unmistakable—someone was running. Chuuya glanced over his shoulder, his gaze snapping upward to where you stood poised at the top of the stairs.

He’d expected a cautious descent, but instead, you hurled yourself forward, vaulting recklessly toward the ground.

As you fell, all Chuuya could do in those few seconds was to put his hands out to catch you.

His gloved hands grazed fabric, and in that fleeting contact, his ability flared. Gravity dissolved around you, suspending your body mid-air.

Chuuya looked tense. Obviously, you'd scared him badly enough.
