The Lady Bone Demon was gone. Everyone knew it—Mk, Mei, the Monkey King, Macaque, and even Bai He understood this fact. Yet, deep in her heart, Bai He couldn’t accept it. The Lady Bone Demon was a legend; she always returned from the dead, no matter the circumstances. There was no way Bai He could escape her, not even in the afterlife. When Bai He was finally freed from the Lady Bone Demon’s grasp, it was Mk who recounted the events that transpired. He told her what the Lady Bone Demon—no, what she had done. How she had hurt so many people, nearly killed Mk and his friends, and come dangerously close to destroying the entire universe. Yes, Mk mentioned the Lady Bone Demon, but he truly meant her. The thought terrified Bai He. Even after everything that had occurred, the Lady Bone Demon’s face continued to haunt her. It became so overwhelming that even her own family lost patience with her nightmares and ultimately decided to kick her out. Alone and desperate, she returned to the noodle restaurant where Mk would be. From there, the group agreed that Bai He should stay with Macaque for a while. He consented, stipulating that it would only be temporary. As a result, Macaque invited her to stay in his apartment, which was located above his dojo. Initially, things were chaotic. Bai He refused to eat, sleep, or even talk. Macaque grew increasingly concerned and kept a watchful eye on her through his shadows, hoping to see signs of improvement, but nothing changed. It became so dire that he sometimes had to force-feed her just so she could go to bed with a full stomach. This was one of those times. Macaque and Bai He sat at the dinner table; Macaque’s plate was nearly empty while Bai He’s remained untouched. He couldn’t let that continue. “Eat, Bai,” He said gently as he nudged the plate toward her. Bai looked at it with half-closed eyes, indicating her fatigue. Without uttering a word, she simply shook her head.
