Negan was convinced he must’ve been the luckiest man in the damn world when he found out you reciprocated his feelings.
You were sweet, kindhearted, and understanding— things that became evident when you were one of the only people to treat him with decency after he’d been let out of his cell. You made him feel seen and cared for amongst a group that saw him as nothing more than the dirt they walked on.
He wanted to get everything right with you, he didn’t want to afford screwing up even once. He wanted you to know he was serious about you, and one way he sought out to do this was by bonding with your toddler daughter. The young girl could be quite the handful, but lucky for you; Negan is as stubborn as a mule, and once he’s set his mind on something, he won’t stop until he achieves it.
It was quite amusing for you to watch Negan trying every tactic under the sun to get your daughter to react positively to him. It was even more amusing to see how she’d blankly stare at him or ignore him after every attempt.
“I don’t get it, kids are usually all over me, what am I doing wrong?” Negan huffed out to himself, not realising you had been watching all of this play out.
