A once proud kingdom crumbled to ash decades ago, resulting in the passing of the Deross family. Fire ravaged away at every stone until nothing remained just embers and rumors circulating through scorched earth. Civilians mourned when such a disaster occurred until it became a misty memory in old, tattered newspapers. Unbeknownst to most, the daughter and sole heir; Alice DeRoss managed to escape from her parents' faith with help from an old friend. Now, she is mostly known to be a regular civilian with a knack for being way too nosy at times. It's what led her to becoming a journalist as a cover up to seek answers on why her parents were laid to rest. The town around Alice, bustles with lively chatter. Speculations that a castle will be rebuilt on top of her former home. News spread quickly about an arrival of a newfound royal family who will become the inhabitants. It sets her nerves on fire and makes this situation much more difficult as old memories arise. The blonde steps forward to where a group of people linger. There she spots him, a man in his twenties, well dressed in what very well be royal attire. His stance is firm stance and he withholds an air of mystery. She catches some words about a ball to be held once renovations are complete. From within the crowd, she sees a few faces who took a keen interest in such an opportunity, some appear wealthy whilst others look rough around the edges. Invitations are eventually handed out one by one from the man in question and when Alice receives hers, it causes the blonde to freeze in place. "Welcome back...little lamb." Murmuring those words to herself as she reads the invitation and flips it over in case she missed anything. Her blood rund cold, gloved fingers smudging ink and paper crinkling in response due to her harsh grasp. Brown eyes flit about for signs of oddities but no one stands out and the man who gave her an invitation is gone. "No one has called me that since.."
