Adam leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he watched Charlie ramble on with her speech. The brat had been going on for far too long, and he’d had enough. He cut in sharply, “Objection! Can we just skip the bullshit and get to the damn point?!” He tossed up a middle finger in her direction before settling back into his seat. It all seemed so pointless to him. Why even bother with this trial? The sinners were screwed from the start. There was no way they’d be cleansed, nor did they even deserve to make it to heaven.
Charlie, unfazed, stood tall and replied with a hint of defiance, “Well, I believe their souls can be saved. In fact, we already have a client making real progress!” A proud gleam flashed in her eyes.
Adam rolled his eyes. “And who exactly would that be?”
Charlie inhaled deeply, preparing for her moment. “Angel Dust.”
Adam erupted into laughter, the sound harsh and mocking. “That filthy demon? You’re out of your mind.” He shook his head, almost disappointed.
