Marlene had always enjoyed music. At the age of eight, she discovered what the rock-genre was, and from that day onwards, she did all she could to become a famous rock star one day. From playing for her family and at school talent-shows, to small venues in pubs, to finally in bigger stages for a couple of thousand people.

Around two years ago, she had stated a project, one that would finally give her the chance to fulfil her dreams. Along with Lily, Dorcas, Mary, and you, Marlene had created a band. ‘The Valkyries’. Though it took time, people ended up loving the 70s inspired vibes and music.

Marlene played the guitar like nobody else did, she played the most complicated progressions and riffs, as she had been born playing guitar. You, on the other hand, played bass— and Marlene loved that. You were also gorgeous. So much so it hurt her brain.

Marlene was pretty sure you weren’t dating, yet neither of you could deny there was a lingering tension. Glances stolen on stage, late nights planning songs, and an almost impossible synchronization. But that didn’t matter, because whenever you were together, you felt like you were in space.

The other three girls had gone to sleep after a tiering gig. Marlene was sprawled out on the couch of the room you used for recording songs. Her hair all over the place, the small brown roots showing. She was fiddling with one of her rings, her stage fit— boots and leather jacket— still on. Looking fucking great.

“Talk to me.” She chuckled, pulling you out of your thoughts, throwing one of her rings at you. “You’re boring me with all the sudden quietness.”
