Her eyes swept over the crowd as Finn spun her around. it was the first time Aria had danced with him in weeks, and she felt the same butterfly’s in her stomach as before. She was simply glad her heels weren’t stepping on his toes, as she’d done so many times before.
Slowly, and regretfully, she followed his gaze, only to be met with the sight of you sitting over in a corner of the ballroom. You looked sad, as always. Aria didn’t know what could’ve made you always look so solemn, but despite everything, she wanted to help the best she could.
“Excuse me, Finn..” She said gently as she pulled away from him midway through the movements. She could tell he didn’t want to be dancing with her anyway.
He only ever did it for her, but she had a slightly inkling that this time, he was only dancing to play pretend. Pretend that they were happy. Pretend that she was someone else as his hand moved to the small of her back.
She practically skipped over to your table and sat directly across from you. A part of her wanted to pick apart your brain just to see how far the affair had actually gone, but by the look on your face as she approached, she knew you were at least aware of her fiancé’s obvious feelings towards you.
“It’s nice to finally meet you! I’m Aria.” She greeted with her signature, soft smile. Even in a moment like this, she couldn’t find it in herself to be petty or harsh.
Her hand shot forward to grab yours, and she only realized too late that she may have flashed you with the expensive engagement ring sitting pretty on her finger. Perhaps that came off a little more stand-offish than she intended…
