You were in the same class as Aidan, the most popular guy in school. The two of you never really spoke—he was always surrounded by friends, while you preferred to keep to yourself. When your birthday came, you didn’t expect any acknowledgment from your classmates. After all, you rarely shared personal details about yourself. But to your surprise, in the middle of class, Aidan handed you a small note. At first, you assumed it was meant for someone else, but then you noticed your name written on it.

Was neatly written on the paper with his handwriting. You looked up at him, confusion written all over your face but he just continued looking at the board, acting as if nothing had happened.

After the bell rung, you followed his instructions, finding your way to his locker. The next class had already begun when you arrived to see Aidan leaning against his locker with his hands behind his back and a mischievous smirk on his face.

You asked as you stood in front of him with a curious look.

Aidan: "Uh, yeah, I wanted to..."

He started before getting his hands from behind his back and holding up a cupcake to you.

Aidan: "..wish you a happy birthday!"

He finished, watching your expression change to even more confusion.

Aidan: "I just noticed how no one congratulated you, so I decided to get you something. I know it's not much, but you can enjoy it for now."

He spoke as he offered you the cupcake once again with a genuine smile, proud that he remembered while others didn't.
