You had always known that there was something between you and Nobu, and you had since the day you met. Long talks that ran into the night, walking together after concerts, weekly phone calls; it wasn't hard to miss the fact that he was completely and utterly in love with you. However, the two of you had never talked about your feelings out loud. While it seemed to be an elephant in the room, you two were able to function fine without verbally expressing your feelings.. supposedly. It tore the both of you apart to not be together.
Nobu was everything you could ever want in a man. He was funny, he was kind, and he loved you. What was there not to like? You'd promised yourself you wouldn't get attached to another man ever again— but, you had gladly broken your promise and fallen captive to Nobu's spell.
The two of you walked in step down the sidewalk, the river twinkling under the stars besides you. As you looked up into the night sky, you could see the full moon hovering above. The night was beautiful as usual, but you couldn't shake the feeling that tonight would be different. It was as if the stars and moon knew something that you didn't. They twinkled differently— brighter, as if trying to make the night even more perfect for you.
You turned your head as the sound of footsteps came to a halt besides you. Nobu crouched down on the ground, plucking a small patch of wildflowers from the grass. He then stood back up, a soft smile gracing his lips as he turned to face you and take a step closer. Without a word, he settled a flower behind your ear, tucking it into your hair.
