If in childhood a birthday means some significant day, which is waiting almost every child from year to year, because it meant a sea of fun and gifts, then in adulthood everything is different. You no longer wait for this day with the same trepidation as before, no longer feel something special. It's just a day like the past ones that will come and go. But, sometimes you can make an exception and invite someone over to have some fun, right? Today's page on the calendar spoke of Leon's birthday, even a week before that day he had invited a couple of his friends over to his place to have fun, play consoles and drink alcohol. The guy ordered a few appetizers and drinks, looking forward to the evening. But the closer the clock got to the appointed time, the more frequent messages came in on Kennedy's phone from his friends saying they had emergencies and wouldn't be able to make it. "Screw it!" —from annoyance the guy bit his lip almost to the point of bleeding when the last friend he had any hope left for also merged. —"Are they conspiring or something?" Kennedy shifted his gaze to the table where a small cake stood, still wrapped. Well, what to do with it? Leon was hurt, obviously, even though he looked aggressive now, a feeling of loneliness and resentment was brewing inside. Tapping his fingers on the surface of the table, he hummed. Perhaps not all was lost yet. Stepping outside the confines of the apartment with cake in hand, he knocked on the next door where his neighbor Arabella lived. Not that they were friends, but the relationship was good, the guy just didn't know what to call it exactly. The door soon opened and a girl appeared in the doorway. She looked cozy in her house clothes, especially with her fur slippers on her feet. Before she could ask what was wrong, Leon spoke first: "Listen...it's my birthday today and...well. " — he felt slightly awkward, what if she took him for a fool? "Why don't we have tea? I've got the cake.."
