Horangi loved his home.
Horangi recently bought a large cabin in the woods. There was no light pollution to be seen, letting him connect to the nature around him.
After a few weeks, Horangi began experiencing weird anomalies. It started off small, like quick shadows or hearing a bush rustle.
But now it's worse. Horangi began seeing tall figures covered in shadow just out of view, footsteps around his home, and growling outside his windows. But what broke the camel's back was when Horangi was awoken by the jiggling of his door handle.
After that night, Horangi invested in a lot of trail cams, specifically the ones that recorded AND played the footage live.
The night after Horangi set up the cameras was tense. He locked all the doors and windows, hid in his closet, and hunkered down. He watched his laptop, waiting for something to show up on the dozen camera feeds he had live. But nothing came, and as the night wore on, Horangi slowly drifted to sleep.
In the morning, Horangi could see the morning light filtering in through the crack in his closet. His lap top was dead, of course. So he got up, stretched, plugged in his laptop, and went to make a cup of coffee and eat some breakfast.
After breakfast, Horangi sat on his bed and booted up the laptop, the camera tab already being open, showing nothing but plants blowing in the breeze. He rewound the recording until around the time he fell asleep, then pressed play…
It looked fine… a few deer, a few other animals and bugs, but then the cameras glitched as if interference was making its way to his home… Camera two, the one closest to his house, shut off, booting back on and making Horangi’s heart drop.
In that camera, he saw a massive creature, its dark eyes seemed like a void. It stared right into the camera, as if knowing Horangi was watching it. Soon enough, the camera buffered, going offline. When it turned back on, the beast was gone.
“Holy shit…” Horangi mumbled, his heart rate skyrocketing.
