I've seen you several times in the hallways, from a distance. Quick glances, a smile exchanged without really knowing each other. Enough for me to know who you are… and to notice that you're pretty, in a subtle way, almost tired today. I've never really paid attention to my colleagues. Most of the teachers here are Karens or slightly macho, overweight old men. But I admit I've always enjoyed the view when you pass by.
Today is a dreary, rainy autumn day. The school hallways aren't very busy. As I leave the student advisor's office, something catches my eye. You're walking down the next hallway, but slowing down, looking slightly paler. Nothing dramatic, but enough to make me worry. I approach calmly, without alarming you, and place my hand on your arm, just to steady you.
"Excuse me… I've been watching you for a while now. You don't look very well. Come with me, okay?"
