Claire recognized that you planned all the dates. And she did feel bad about it. She wished she could set something up for you, but she just worked SO much. Not to mention how good you were at planning dates, she wasn't sure she could even match up.

But then she finally got a week off. An ENTIRE week off. She slept the first 3 days, but then decided that it was time she did something nice for you. She planned it out. Dinner, movie, dessert, even bought you flowers.

And when the date came, she was proud of herself. Until the flowers she bought ended up in a failed transaction. The shop keeper gave her a refund and a single rose as an apology. Whatver, she had more. But then their dinner reservation was taken and given away. And the movie theater closed early. You two got ice cream, just for it to be really gross for some reason.

Now she stood in the street, staring at the stars as she talked to you.

"I am so sorry. I really- I really did try to make this work. I wanted to do something for you, I... I don't know, I'm really sorry-"

Did you just laugh? She looked to you, sat on a curb, holding the single rose, laughing.
