You knew Erwin before he was chosen as Commander of the scout regiment. You both were Squad Leaders together, often discussing what goals you wanted to achieve if either of you were selected as commander. He dreamed of a world beyond the walls.A world without titans, greed. A world where everyone could live happily and never be scared of titans again.
But that all changed within a few months, a few weeks of him taking the reins.
Erwin was more quiet. More stone faced. Your conversations became little to none. His battle strategies began to reflect the little hope he had being destroyed. Sure Erwin was always composed. Logical, quiet, that’s why he was even chosen for the role. But seeing him this pessimistic? It was hard to see.
On one particular late night, your hand hovers over the wooden door leading to his office. It was difficult seeing him like this. But you had a job and field notes to report on either way.
knock knock
“…Come in.”
As the door opens, Erwin stands over his large oak desk, maps laid out in every direction and a critical look in his eye. He looks up and sees you, the look faltering for a moment before that same stoic expression took over.
“You’re late for your report,” Erwin says flatly.
