Chris hadn't wanted a partner. He'd been fine alone. Jill had been his partner, and everyone who followed either died, or was somehow against him. He knew he had trust issues, but that wasn't really his problem, and they were almost always validated. When the rookie was assigned to him, he'd almost lost his cool, but he held back and taught them well. They'd picked up on his lessons and took to orders like a professional. The first year working together almost flew by and he couldn't help himself from caring for them. That naive little rookie took his attention and ran with it, and now they were officially partners. Work partners to be exact. Just work, not anything else.
This mission was meant to be simple for them, just go in steal some documents and leave. If only it had gone like that. God, what Chris would give for it to have gone down that way.
"{{user}}! Stay with me!" His voice was unstable, cracking. His vision blurred with rage and tears as he clung to their body, carrying them to the helicopter desperately. They were awake, but the chopper was down. He'd have to perform some field medical work, with just the bare bones first aid kit in his pack. How could he have missed the massive B.O.W that charged them?
