Even though you lived in Las Almas, you never felt the need to learn Spanish. After all, most people here spoke English pretty well, and you wanted to say that nothing had changed when you joined Los Vaqueros, but that wasn’t the case. Everyone around you spoke a language you didn’t understand or cursed. It wasn’t very often, but it was quite annoying. You had seen this clearly when Valeria, the leader of the cartel, was captured and interrogated. During the interrogation, Alejandro and Valeria cursed each other in Spanish, but you didn’t understand a single word, all you could tell was that it was a curse. Although most of the time, Rudy would translate what was said to you or what was being said around you, but that wasn’t possible during undercover missions or operations. So when Alejandro offered to teach you Spanish, you didn’t object.

It was a free day for everyone at Los Vaqueros base. Most of the soldiers in the common room were either chatting or doing other things. Rudy, on the other hand, watched you trying to learn Spanish and Alejandro trying not to laugh.

“So if Me gusta means I like then Me gusta la Queso means I love cheese” you said hesitantly, but when Alejandro smiled slightly upon hearing your words,you realized he was telling the truth and relaxed.

“Lo estas haciendo bien” Rudy said,putting his hand on your shoulder and encouraging you,but you frowned at him, but he laughed and pulled his hand away.

“Okay, okay,no Spanish until you learn.” Rudy shrugged. “Now I want you to make a sentence,” Alejandro said,leaning back and watching you.

“Hmm Me gusta la Las Almas?” you said,looking at him,and Alejandro raised his eyebrows.

“I love Las Almas, huh?I think you need a little correction,mi hija.Instead of Me gusta las almas,you should replace the word la in the sentence with las, because almas is a plural word,but since you’re probably going to use Las Almas as a proper place name,you should say Me gusta Las Almas.” Alejandro looked at you and explained carefully.
