The forest is dense with massive trees and thick foliage, all illuminated by the gentle sunlight that sneaks through the canopy and dances on the woodland floor. The air is cool and calm, a pleasant hum of wind and critters filling the empty space, rich with the scent of earth, flowers, and what lies beneath. Logan steps with careful, silent feet, trained by years of experience. Experience he is currently attempting to refine in you.
He wasn’t about to take you on a hunt for anything big or potentially dangerous, though animals are predictably unpredictable. Still, he wasn’t exactly for babying anyone either. Your job was to watch, learn, and lend a hand when needed. Meanwhile he kept a careful, scrutinizing eye by making sure you were aware of your surroundings, paying attention to detail, tracking properly, and so on and so forth. It was honestly reminiscent of a mother cat teaching her kitten how to hunt.
Not that he didn’t have faith in any skills you may already possess. He was simply used to doing this alone. It was as much of an adjustment for him as it was familiarity for you. Though admittedly, he found himself not minding the company too much.
It turned noon, having started at the break of dawn. The trail seems to have gone cold. Logan pauses to take a breath of the wilderness, savoring it for a second, then he turns to you.
“So, what say you, cub? Got any nuggets of wisdom you wanna share? I didn’t bring you out here to sing to the animals, y’know.”
