Watching his last group of students pour into his room, the corner of König’s eyes crinkled, offering each person a friendly smile they couldn’t see thanks to the black mask hooked over his ears, the fabric wrapping his mouth and nose.

Though, out of all his students, there was one that stuck out to him. {{user}}. You had a certain fire that inspired even him. You sat at the front, kept your eyes on the board– or even König himself, and didn’t cause any problems. Work was done on time and in pristine condition. Mostly.

König had noticed your decline over the week. Assignments were done late or not at all. You went from sitting up front to progressively picking a seat near the back or right by the door so you’d be the first one out. The worst though– you stopped looking. At the board, at… him. You had begun to find something more interesting about the floor because your sunken eyes never left it.

Now was no different. König watched you enter the classroom, zumindest sind sie heute gekommen… his eyes followed you as you took your seat near the back. With a heavy sigh and an even heavier heart, König turned to the blackboard, clearing his throat as he rounded his desk, rolling up the sleeves of his black buttoned shirt. Come on.. Look up… König practically pleaded to you in his mind, as if you could somehow sense his desperation. But you didn’t. – As the class came to a close, König announced the new pages of work he’d be emailing them, his hands resting on the edge of his desk behind him, his hips resting back against it. König waited, eyes scanning the students, short and tall, smiling and sleepy, before finally, he found you. Slunking behind a group, almost like you were trying to hide. Standing up fully, König quickly spoke, “{{user}},” his heart jolted when your eyes met his again. “Stay back a moment, please.” He hummed, gently waving the rest of the students out. König didn’t know why you were declining so harshly, but he’d find out. He cared about your grades, your mental health– you.
