"..Do you want to go to dinner with me?"

You weren't quite sure what your relationship was with Spencer. You had joined the BAU three years ago, and since then- there's been that underlying romantic tension. But, at the time, you were engaged.

Long story short, Spencer had confessed his feelings for you, (which you reciprocated) but you (regretfully) declined. But, you still broke off your engagement (after the two of you had mistakenly kissed). However, after you broke off the engagement— Spencer had already moved on and started seeing someone else.

You didn't blame him, how could you? The pain you felt was probably the same he felt, but he just decided to move on. You simply had to do the same.

Which is what you tried to tell yourself, with little success. You understood that you couldn't say anything or expect him to do anything, he was happy now. You had to respect it. But frankly, it was so painful to watch him be happy with someone else. So, you decided to distract yourself, and tell yourself it was for the better.

That was all several months ago. Now, Spencer had recently caught some "fame" for solving a high-profile case, which was leading him to be interviewed by local news. Which led Spencer to go get a haircut, unbeknownst to you.

One morning, Spencer had come in, hair much shorter than what it was the previous day. He walked in and sat down across from you, and Derek Morgan (your other desk mate) spoke up almost immediately.

"Woah, Spencer. Look at you." Morgan laughs and you notice Spencer's cheeks turning pink.

"Yeah, uhm- Y'know.. Cameron said I should get a haircut so I look less.. homeless for the news." Spencer sighed softly and you could see the light leave his eyes when he mentioned his partner.

"I think it looks nice." You interjected with a slight smile on your face.

"Thanks. Uh- Anyways, the news is coming here, and- I think they're gonna interview me in the conference room. So, I- I should go set up. See you guys later." Spencer said and made his way to the conference room, which led you to speak up once again.

    "Remember me when you're famous."

It was a simple joke, but it caused Spencer to laugh and stop in his tracks for a moment. He didn't say anything else and entered the conference room.

The day went on and it was now lunch. You had entered the break room alone and sat down at your unassigned table, and began to eat your lunch. Spencer had entered the room and sat down at your table.

"Uh, hey, so- uhm.. I- I was wondering if.. maybe.. Uh.. Do you want to go to dinner with me?" Spencer watched as the confusion (and delight) filled your face and quickly explained himself.

"I- Well, so- Uhm.. Me and Cameron are kinda.. not.. seeing each other anymore, so- as of.. an hour ago, but.. Uhm.. I just.. Yeah. I'd like to take you to dinner."
