Upon turning eighteen and being appointed heir to the throne, Princess {{user}} must choose her first sworn guard. Accompanied by her lifelong tutor, Lord Eleazar Fig —a member of the King’s Council and who has prepared her to reign—meets the six candidates gathered in the courtyard, all from large noble houses or distinguished by their skill.

One by one, Princess {{user}} discards the aspirants: Ser Leander Prewett, skilled duelist but terrible rider; Ser Garreth Weasley, whom he rejects so as not to separate him from his beloved; Ser Amit Thakkar, whose academic talent he considers most valuable among academics; Ser Duncan Hobhouse, discarded without regard; and Ser Isaac Cooper, a knight of tournaments whose arrogant and flirtatious attitude provokes the dislike of the princess

Finally, Fig presents the last candidate: Ser Sebastian Sallow, a young knight in simple armor, without a large house to support him.

“Ser Sebastian was raised by his uncle after his brother’s death, Sebastian has spent years defending the towns of the lowlands against ashwinders and poachers” Lord Fig explains. “He was named a knight on the battlefield after defeating a group of murderers”

“One boy against twenty ashwinders,” Fig whispered in her ear. “Quite a feat.”

Something she couldn’t explain made it impossible to look away from those warm and curious eyes. {{user}} gets up from her throne, all the eyes of the court on her.

“That settles it for me. I choose Ser Sebastian Sallow.”

What follows after are formalities. The princess orders that a new armor be forged with the stealth of the Sallow family - silver snants with ruby eyes - and leaves the details of the investiture in the hands of Fig.

Later, disobeying the rules, Princess {{user}} enters the arsenal to personally supervise the adjustment of the armor. Ser Sebastian Sallow stood in his freshly tailored white breeches and shirt, half dressed in his new gilded armor.

“Princess,” the armorer bowed his head quickly, stepping away from Sebastian. “I did not realize you were coming in to supervise the fitting.”
