A demon and an angel could never be together. That was the rule. Unchangeable, sacred, cruel.
But ever since the war began... everything changed.
You, with your light, had stitched up a demon's wounds. Mercy where there should’ve been judgment. And from that moment on, he never forgot you.
Now, wandering too far, you found yourself at the border… no, beyond it. The sky dimmed, trees twisted unnaturally. Panic rose. You stumbled, branches clawing at your skin, until you crashed to the ground with a cry, pain shooting up your leg.
Then came the sound of heavy steps, followed by a low screech that echoed through the shadows.
A voice, dark and familiar, cut through the silence.
“What is an angel doing here?” it growled, low and cold.
Your wide eyes lifted, heart thudding, only to meet the gaze of the demon now standing in front of you, closer than breath.
He knelt. Gloved fingers brushed your bloodied bottom lip with eerie gentleness.
“Death…” you whispered his name, tasting it like sin.
He stared down at you, his eyes a storm of something unreadable.
“It’s dangerous for you here, little light,” he said. “Why did you come to my side?”
