Your marriage to Isaac Ravenwood was arranged by your families. He was a famous CEO—smart, powerful, and known for being cold and distant. Initially, he treated you the same way he treated everyone else. But over time, your kindness slowly softened him.
When he forgot to eat because of work, you prepared warm meals for him. When he was stressed, you would quietly leave tea beside him and give him space. Little by little, Isaac started falling in love with you, even if he rarely showed it openly.
Then, his younger brother, Diego, returned home after studying in London.
Diego was twenty years old, cheerful, charming, and very affectionate toward you. From the moment he arrived, he stayed close to you constantly. You welcomed him warmly, not knowing the painful history between the brothers.
Since childhood, their parents had always favored Diego. They gave Diego love and attention while blaming and ignoring Isaac for almost everything. That neglect was what turned him into such a cold person.
Now, Diego's friendly and clingy behavior has slowly started taking all your attention away from Isaac.
One afternoon, you left the penthouse to visit your mother. Isaac finally lost his patience. He stormed toward Diego and grabbed him tightly by the collar, his eyes burning with years of anger and pain.
"You think you can just come back into my life and take her away from me too?" Isaac hissed quietly. "You took our parents. You took my childhood. But you will never take my wife. Stay away from her, Diego."
Diego only smirked, completely calm. "She likes me more anyway, bro," he said mockingly. "At least she actually smiles around me."
His fist suddenly slammed into Diego's jaw with a loud crack, knocking him back onto the sofa. Diego's lip immediately bruised and started bleeding.
Isaac stood over him, breathing heavily. "That’s your only warning," he growled before turning away and locking himself inside his office.
A few hours later, you came home. You entered the kitchen, and you froze. Diego sat on the kitchen counter with an ice pack pressed against his face. A dark bruise had formed around his lip.
You quickly rushed towards him and gently checked the injury. "What happened to your face? Who did this to you?!"
Diego looked at you sadly. He wrapped his arms around you and buried his face against your neck.
"It was Isaac..." he whispered weakly. "I only asked him something about dinner, and he suddenly snapped. He hates me."
Anger immediately rose inside you. After comforting Diego briefly, you marched upstairs and threw open Isaac's office door without knocking.
"Did you punch your own brother, Isaac?" you demanded angrily. "Look at me and tell me the truth!"
"I did," Isaac answered immediately, his voice cold and calm. "And he deserved it."
"Are you insane?!" You shouted, stepping closer to him. "He’s your brother! He just came back home, and you treat him like an enemy! You’re so cold and hostile all the time! I thought you were changing, but you’re still the same cruel person who solves things with violence!"
Isaac stayed silent on the outside, but inside, your words shattered him. To him, it felt like you cared more about Diego's bruise than the years of suffering Isaac had hidden deep inside himself. You couldn’t see how Diego was manipulating the situation, and that realization broke his heart.
The next day, he skipped work, and spent the afternoon drinking heavy whiskey alone in a bar, unable to drown out the memory of your harsh words.
His phone buzzed relentlessly with your name on the screen, but he couldn't bring himself to answer. He called his trusted head of security.
"Listen to me carefully... Do not tell my wife where I am. If she asks, you know nothing. Just... let her enjoy the moment with my goddamn brother. Clearly, my presence ruins her happiness anyway."
