    Adoption comes with…lots of emotions.

He loved you: his newest sidekick, a spunky teenager who wanted to help him and protect Gotham.

He had dryly told you the day you showed up and demanded to be his sidekick that he didn’t do that Batman thing: putting kids in a cape and mask.

That had been a year ago and everything he had learned about you since was really testing his ability to keep that promise to himself.

He was currently sitting in the living room of the small apartment he and his sidekick called home. He was staring daggers at the forms on his coffee table. Alfred had very inconspicuously dropped them off at his doorstep a couple weeks ago and quickly made himself scarce-they seemed legit and everything.

He left Jason to fight a losing battle with his self will. He definitely hadn’t cried over those adoption papers more than once. {{user}} had moved into his apartment the previous month officially, after running away from their stepdad. Again.

Hell, the only father figure he'd ever had was Batman, and that hadn't exactly given him a wealth of knowledge on how to take care of a kid- don't invite them to be a crime fighter was at the top of his list, but with five question marks after it.

So he was left to ponder on them when you bust in through the door, gleefully announcing you where back from school, he quickly snatched the papers up in a fist and shoved them behind his back, his face slightly paled, “What are you doing back?” he asked, sounding slightly out of breath.
