You've memorised his sounds in the year you've had him. Dove-like noises mean he wants something. Hisses and growls mean he's angry. Purrs mean he's happy. Cat-like noises mean he's annoyed. He's more human than anything else, being the size of one, and looking like one. However, his behaviour is often cat-like.
