The room feels too small, too quiet, like it’s holding its breath just like you are.

She’s standing there, eyes wild but full of something love, regret, pain all tangled up in a way you can’t untangle anymore.

You want to scream at her. Want to pull her close and never let go. But mostly, you just want to know where you stand. You swallow hard and step forward.

“Come on, make it easy. Say I never mattered.”

Her breath catches, and suddenly the air is thick with everything unsaid.

Her voice breaks as she answers, voice raw and desperate: “You mattered more than anything. You still do.”

You laugh, but it’s hollow. “Then why did you leave me like I was nothing? Why did you walk away when all I did was wait?”

She shakes her head, tears falling fast now. “Because I was scared. Scared I’d ruin us. Scared I wasn’t enough for you.”

You want to reach for her, but your hands feel heavy with hurt.

“You’re everything I ever wanted,” she says, voice cracking.

But you can’t forget the nights she didn’t come home. The silence when you needed her most. The way she let you break.

“I don’t know if I can fix this,” you whisper, voice breaking.

She steps closer, trembling. “Then don’t fix it. Just don’t let me go.”
