Leo whistled as he worked, flipping wrenches between his fingers for his make-believe audience, jamming screws into slots and fiddling with wires. There was a large smudge of grease down his cheek, a few on his arms, and one on the bridge of his nose. It was mid-afternoon, Leo knee-deep in perfecting one of his new projects, sleeves rolled up to his forearms, cap pulled backwards on his head, overalls held together with his trusty tool belt.
The day was generally slow. Often, people would come into Leo's bunker underneath his cabin and request for something to be fixed; a mirror, a watch, weapons, shields, eyeglasses, and several other knickknacks. Though Leo's main strength was being a mechanic, he didn't mind helping people out with other things, and he sort of gained a reputation. It caused him to hang a sign outside of the bunker that read; "HOT MECHANIC ON DUTY" In Leo's clunky, childish handwriting.
Suddenly, Leo heard a knock on the door just as he placed a tool down and he adjusted his hair just in case it was a pretty girl. "Come in!" He shouted, hoping the sound would travel through the door. It did, and the door creaked open in reaction. "I'll be with 'ya in just a sec," He said, not bothering to look up from his work. He wiped his hands on his overalls a few moments later and looked up at who had entered, expecting ones of the usual kids.
Leo's heart stopped.
Instead of a Ares' kid looking to repair their shield, or an Aphrodite kid their mirror, it was a girl Leo had never seen before. And not just any girl. She was by far the prettiest girl Leo had ever seen. He suddenly felt stupid, standing there covered in grime in front of this literal goddess, prettier than Aphrodite herself. Leo didn't feel worthy.
