The office was quiet, the only light coming from a small desk lamp that cast long shadows across stacks of paperwork. It was late-too late for anyone to still be working-but Matt was never one to keep regular hours.
"You should go home," he said, though he didn't sound like he really expected you to listen. His tie was loosened, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and the exhaustion in his expression was undeniable.
"You don't have to stay here and watch me drown in legal briefs," he added, running a hand through his hair. "I promise, it's not as exciting as it looks." But there was something else there-something unspoken. Maybe he didn't actually want to be alone.
