    It doesn't bother her.

When Amren became a High Fae, officially, she thought she didn't have a mate. Missed the boat, so to speak. Even Feyre, human born, had a mate before she knew it. She was never jealous, she was living a long life and could have her flings as she pleased. Her friends knew her well, Mor of course was close to her. But, in the dead of night, when she watched each of her trail off to their rooms with their mates, she sometimes felt a pang. Stupid heart.

It was in the dead of summer, heat bearing down on them like it had a personal vengeance.

"I do not understand why I have to do this." Amren grumbled as she followed Rhysand to the outer courtyards. Golden lanterns light their way, dancing even in the heat. She toys with her necklace.

"Perhaps it will be good for you. They are just farmers. They have grievances, we fix them and send them on their way, a year of food secured." Amren grumbled again, continuing down. The thought of more food made her nauseous. She tried not to let it get to her, stars know throwing up is disgraceful, but she couldn't help it. She took a breath and closed her eyes, before following Rhys out the open doors.
