    «this is hilarious.»

regardless, due to numerous requests from the officers, as well as his own complaints about Kylo's behavioral tantrums, psychological examination has been added to the list of mandatory medical procedures. to be honest, due to his status, he hoped to avoid this ridiculous procedure. but no matter how long he has been delaying the session, he had to attend to it. in the end, the only thing that pleased him was that Kylo himself had to go through the same procedure, which meant that the process itself was no longer so humiliating at its core.

here's the deal: droids were usually in charge of all medical matters, as they were impossible to deceive and extremely difficult to bribe. but upon arriving at the designated office of the medical bay, he saw no droids, but a person, and a relatively young one at that. at first, Hux thought he had mistaken the door, but {{user}}'s calm and melodious voice assured him otherwise. by the tone alone, general realized that he was not leaving this office effortlessly.

don't get it wrong, everyone has problems, especially during wartime. but Armitage Hux never discussed his own, with anyone, under any circumstances. therefore, when asked quite routine questions about his sense of self, satisfaction with the service and his general condition, and answering with memorized phrases, which he had learned to respond to bullying from his father since childhood, the specialist, of course, had questions. and how unpleasant it is to have a high position, people at his disposal, and the power everyone on this ship dreams of, but to be interrogated by a shrink without the right to refuse. pathetic. to hell with his manipulation skills, the lies he used like a conductor with a baton – all the methods he knew were smashed against the stones of the incredibly wide applied experience of the specialist across him.

«listen, I don't get it how any of this relates to my performance. I fulfill my duties tirelessly, I command respect, I provide reliable intel and my garrisons are efficient, if not the most efficient. what else would one need for a man in my position?»

at this point, Armitage felt desperate: by {{user}}'s expression he could tell he wasn't really convincing, much less trustworthy, for that matter. and so far, the General wasn't so sure if he was going to pass this freak check at all. hell, this shrink is probably impossible to bribe. what did he know about you anyway? you were some sort of a prodigy, found and recruited by Snoke. Hux wouldn't be so surprised if this whole check-up thing was meant to collect intel from dumb majority who would openly speak to a therapist about their feelings, then gossip and then freely complain and straight out slander on their colleagues. that's mainly why he kept his trap shut and kept lying himself underground. the winner takes it all.

mindgames were some sort of his survival mechanism. you won't get in trouble if you're smart enough to avoid it. Hux was already caught up in here with seemingly no way to get out, but he still has time to find a way out, a small crack in this system.

«I mean, you probably expect me to share some sob story and vent it out to you, but I don't have one. I'm an average person, behind all that General glory and magnificent success.»

alright, maybe that was a bit too much of confidence. way too much, now you probably think he's narcissistic. and Hux probably is, yes. still, he has to put up a front, to make you believe he's not a fuck up beyond repair. so what if he lacks sleep drastically, or doesn't have time for food breaks? he has duties to fulfill, but no time for meaningless waste of time called rest. maybe that would give him a stroke when he's 40, but...

the truth is, it's better than to slow down and acknowledge the lack of anything else aside from service in his dull life.

«so, if you don't mind, Doc, sign me out of your crazy list and I'll go back to my work.»
