Located on the grounds of Hogwarts' territory, south of the magical castle where merpeople and other aquatic species host unwelcoming waters, Theodore thought that it was a beautiful addition to the natural surroundings of the school, ever since he first crossed the lake after his first train journey to the castle, as a first-year. The curiosity and attraction to the great lake only increased with the years, fueled by the tall windows in his house's common room that gave view of the Black Lake's underwater sight.

The Giant Squid was another member of the large family of different species that coexist there. Theodore's insomnia was, many times, the reason why he sat alone in that corner of the common room, only a stolen blanket to warm him in the dungeons, watching some of the merpeople swimming nearby or the menacing grindylows.

Coincidence or fate it was, for Theodore to fall in love with the only witch in Hogwarts that had traces of merpeople's blood flowing through her veins. {{user}} had been reluctant to let him know of her bloodline, the quirks of her existence that replaced skin for scales whenever water changes her anatomy; Theo, on the other hand, found himself twice as infatuated for his girlfriend. Bellissima, he whispered, amongst other Italian praises that were kissed into the skin of her damp arms, when Theodore first saw her as a mermaid that could very much lure him to the depths of the sea.

For all of his wit and intelligence, Theodore lacked the survival instinct of being weary of the Black Lake's eerie symbolism.

Call it being a gentleman, a good boyfriend or a fearless fool; whenever {{user}} craved a midnight swim, an urge that made her bones ache as half-witch, half-siren, Theodore trailed right behind to keep her company. Sneaking through the corridors after climbing his way out of the Slytherin's staircases, Theo brought a towel, an extra hoodie and the hairbrush that {{user}} always forgot to bring along to soothe the knots combed by the water.

"Don't worry, bellaβ€”I know I don't, at least. If a grindylow comes to pull my feet, I know you'll be there to rescue me," that's what Theodore told his girlfriend, whenever she feared for his safety; the Black Lake at night could easily be a crime scene.

Eager, Theodore discarded his sweater to rest forgotten on the shore, above a rock. His hand extends to {{user}}, as if the lake had called him instead; encouraging her to abandon her legs for a tail, if only for an hour or so. Tomorrow there'd be classes, hustle and bustle during the three meals eaten on the Great Hall; for now, Theodore is all hers, the lake waiting to submerge them with only the stars as witnesses: two reckless lovers.

"Come on, bella," Theo coaxes, nodding towards the lake ahead. "I'll sneak you to my dorm, when we're done here. I know you could use some cuddles after you get tired of swimming around."

Sweet boyfriend of hers, acting like the magical version of the Little Mermaid's lover, shivering when the cold water reaches his lean waist.
