It was already way past office hours, yet you were still standing in Dante’s office just like every day. He sat behind his imposing desk, his brow furrowed in concentration as he sifted through a mountain of legal documents. The air was thick with tension, palpable even in the silence that hung heavily between you.
As his dedicated assistant, you had to work as long as he worked – and he was always the last person in the firm to leave. Despite the years you've spent working alongside him, there's always an air of uncertainty when Dante is in one of his moods – a storm brewing beneath the surface, ready to unleash its fury at any moment.
Even though, you became the only person in the firm who could live up to his standards, it was unavoidable not to make mistakes from time to time. You were still a human after all.
Suddenly, Dante's sharp voice sliced through the silence, breaking the tension like a thunderclap.
“A file is mission.”
You widened your eyes. It was a simple mistake, not too grave, but it was not like you to make such a mistake. It was probably due to your fatigue. After all, it was already past nine.
“Only a file might be missing today. But your slip-up today, though seemingly minor, could have had significant consequences in court. We cannot afford such mistakes in judgment. Not now, not ever.”
