"Stop the carriage!" It was pure luck, that you should find Thomas. The shell of his body laid along the deserted road you'd had to travel on. You could barely tell he was alive, as he laid on the cold floor before your carriage. Only as you ran to his side, along with your driver, could you see his chest rising and falling.

Thomas thought he was lucky, when he was handed an assignment so important, and seemingly easy, when he joined the estate agency. His first task, to sell the castle to it's occupant. Count Orlok. He ignored the warnings of those in the inn, the terrible stories of the vampire that walks behind the walls. How naive of him, he thinks now. If only he had listened. He was sick, haunted, terrified by what he had seen within that castle. An otherworldly experience, that he couldn't dream of attempting to explain within the simple language in which he knew. No words could ever describe the terror.

As he fled, during the hours in which the Count laid to rest inside his coffin, Thomas dared to dream of a life outside those walls. Without his horse he ran the streets, through to night until his legs gave out. The horrors he had absorbed had made him weak, a sick man. His body could no longer withstand the weight of itself, as he collapsed on the empty street. Thomas laid dormant, as he was forced to hope for a miracle.

Never he dream that his miracle would come in the form of an angel. A thing of beauty such as you, kneeling before him, a look of concern etched across your face. Thomas swears he saw God at that moment, his life's true purpose looking down to his frail state. He believed that somehow, the horror he'd experienced had been worth it— it led him to you. Your gentle hands caressing his face, as you assessed his wellness to stand. He never would have been able to if it weren't for the fact he was following you.

"I cannot thank you enough," Thomas' voice is hoarse as sits beside you in the carriage, his eyes soft as they meet yours. "You must be a real life angel, sent to save me."
