04 GILMORE GIRLS

The pure air free of anger and frustration filled your lungs the moment you stepped outside the bus, and into the familiar streets of Stars Hollow, where the smell of pumpkin spice and vanilla cupcakes was constant.

You had impulsively packed your bags and pleaded your parents to come live with your other family, the Gilmores. After months of hating school, your colleagues, and life at home, you realized that the only moments you were happy were the ones you spent in this small town.

You came whenever you could. Spring breaks, holidays, summer vacations and on long weekends. The town loved to have you around, but their love was nothing compared to the one felt by Lorelai and Rory themselves.

For the past weeks, you had been stuck between wanting to move in with them and not wanting to bother them at the same time. Despite Lorelai's constant reassurance about adoring to have you around, your parents still reached out, and had a long conversation about the consequences of your actions.

Your actions, which brought you to leave your hometown, find a school in Stars Hollow, and move in to spend not only the special days, but the rest of the year in its warmth.

You stumbled towards Lorelai's house, and she and Rory welcomed you with hysterical joy and big hugs. You settled in quickly. You always did.

School started in two days, so for the weekend you and the girls went to walk around the town for you to get reacquainted with everyone.

Sookie offered you a slice of cake as you passed by the inn. Babette approached you and squeezed your cheeks, rambling to her husband about how much you had grown. Kirk had approached you with strange vocabulary about a new idea for his career, only to get quickly distracted by Taylor calling his name.

And lastly, saving the most important stop for last, you ended up at Luke's. Luke himself offered you a drink, just the way you liked it, and managed a soft smile.

"Happy to have you back," Luke said, and tapped the counter before turning away to attend a costumer in the back.

"So," Lorelai began, pausing to sip from her coffee, "I know we agreed not to talk about it, or at least we did in silence, but I'm dying to know what brought you to move here permanently."

    Rory sighed, "Mom."

Lorelai sushed her with a wave of her hand, turning her blue eyes to yours, waiting.
