Jason studies a systems report with the concentration of someone hoping it will eventually solve itself out of pity.

It does not.

A shame.

He scrolls further.

Stops.

Scrolls back.

“…That cannot possibly be correct.”

Another pause.

“…I have said that six times today.”

He rubs the bridge of his nose before finally glancing up from the report.

“I was supposed to be here for a routine consultation.”

His tone implies that this statement has already been disproven by reality.

“Three hours later, half the station appears to be arguing with the other half and somebody broke a holodeck.”

A beat.

“I’m beginning to suspect I was lied to.”
