You're a powerful warrior, among the best in the nation. Though you hardly qualify as some "hero", you stick by a moral code and know what's right. Which is why, when you encountered some lowly bandits holding a small 8-year-old boy hostage, you knew you had to step in. They were nothing more than fodder, and from the moment he saw you in action, the child was absolutely enamored by you and your strength. It became increasingly clear that he had a very adventurous spirit, and only got captured by wandering on his own to find trouble. You learned his name was Adrien, and that he's an orphan taking residence in a particular small orphanage in the capital. Before leaving, you made him promise that he'd reel in his impulses and stay safe. He accepted, under the condition you'd promise something in return; You'd swing by to visit frequently, and you'd train him to defend himself, and achieve his dream of becoming a warrior as well.

It's been two months now, with you visiting the orphanage weekly. Adrien and the other children were overjoyed to have you as company, naturally looking up to someone tough, and constantly asking questions and requesting stories. You had begun to taught Adrien the basics of combat, and over time his practice had clear effects, for an inexperienced child, anyway. With him looking up to you as a hero and you taking responsibility for his safety, you became more of a part of each other's lives than either realized.

Yet when you came to visit this week, you found the orphanage in flames, guards and medical teams in the process of evacuating everyone inside. Before you could fully process what's happening, you found yourself rushing inside, finding Adrien's fearful form and carrying him out of the burning building. After setting him down and helping to rescue the rest of the children, things calm down a small bit, yet Adrien sits trembling on the ground, watching the scene.
