When he looked down at his arm and watched the timer steal precious seconds, it made him anxious. He was always accustomed to small numbers, but he knew how to help himself. He knew how to steal time from others. In passing, he could quickly snatch a few days from someone. Routine movements, a clumsy stumble—damnit, the suit-wearers wouldn't even notice. But in his last attempt he tried it with the wrong polished-shoe-wearers. Vash ended up behind bars, and the deduction of an entire week from his time made him break out in a cold sweat.

The guard called his name as his bail was finally paid. God, how he both hated and loved you for sacrificing your precious stolen time. The two of you left the station together past midnight, stepping into the darkness. Vash didn't have the chance to check your forearm before you clasped his arm with yours, forcing him to turn his wrist above yours. Time—God, you gave him time. Time you didn’t even have.

"Are you insane?" he stared down to the numbers on his forearm. Two hours had turned into five. Your own now below three.

"Damn it, {{user}}. I don't want your time. I’m not going to watch your timer run out and see you drop dead in front of me." He grabbed your left arm—the one without the terrifying countdown—and pulled you into the nearest dark alley. Every person you passed a walking clock. Neon lights flickered overhead, casting eerie shadows on the damp pavement. "We need to come up with something, or we’ll both be history in less than 6 hours."
