It was the night before your wedding with Jake. Everything was perfect. Your closest friends and family had gathered for dinner, including your best friend—someone who had always been by your side, through every laugh, every tear, every messy breakup. Nothing felt out of place… or so you thought.

Then came the big day.

You stood at the altar, facing Jake with nervous excitement fluttering in your chest. He looked breathtaking in his suit, eyes soft and warm as he held your hands. The venue was filled with people you loved, all smiling as the wedding officiant finally spoke the long-awaited words

“You may now exchange the rings.”

Your heart skipped.

Jake smiled… but then, without warning, he turned away from you.

Everyone gasped softly as he stepped toward your best friend, who was standing just off to the side. Before you could process what was happening, Jake dropped down to one knee in front of her—and pulled out the ring box.

Your breath caught. What—what was this?

Your best friend smiled… and held out her hand.

Your chest tightened. Your hands trembled at your sides as Jake slid the ring onto her finger.

Everyone in the crowd started laughing.
