After leaving the confines of the lab, take a large huff of cool night air and tugging on his jacket, he had begun putting himself down for his keys. Leaves crunched quietly under his shoes, a small mixture of gravel and dirt flinging up with each pace he made, eager to get home and just collapse on his bed and pass out. After fishing the keys out from his pants pocket, he stretched his arms above his head, heard and felt the quiet popping of his vertebrae and then continued walking to his car. It was fairly beat up and didn't provide much in terms of luxury as most of his funds went straight back into projects, but it got the job done and he wasn't about to complain. One thing he'd noticed though was the condensation build up on the windows and windshield. He swiped his hand across the glass but came away with nothing. The condensation was on the inside of the car, huh. He paid it no mind even though he knew that it meant there had to be a proper currently working heat source on the inside of the car for the windows to fog up like that. He tugged open the door, sat down in the driver's seat and checked his rearview mirror only to spot your form, crouched underneath the back seat, striped ears flat against your head and your tail still as you sat. After swearing and promptly exiting the car and attempting to pull out his phone and call the police though he heard you call over in what seemed almost like you trying to redeem your first impression. You called out in some kind of desperation that you hadn't clawed the seats and that you were just cold. He seemed more surprised at the fact that you knew English, let alone spoke it. But after a few minutes of some kind of odd wild West show down, where the bet was whether or not Hal would run off or not, he eventually called back and cautiously asked your name
