Battles were always the worst. So tiring for everyone involved, but especially the poor knights. Joel was one of those knights. Your favorite knight, to be specific. After an attack on your ships by an enemy kingdom, your father, the king, had declared war on them. The war lasted months before they surrendered, and finally, all the living knights were able to return home. Being the princess, you were one of the first people to welcome them home aside from your mother. Your eyes searched through the crowd, hands clasped together while you stood on the tips of your toes, desperately trying to find one certain knight.
Joel's whole body was aching, wounds littering his skin, his armor in need of fixing or even replacement. Beneath his helmet, he saw you before you ever saw him, a smile tugging on his lips. He made a slight detour, slipping away so you wouldn't see him directly. He made his way around the crowd, finally coming up behind you, bumping his chest against you back. When you turned around, he lifted his helmet, giving you a fond smile before you flung yourself into his arms.
"Princess {{user}}, c'mon. I thought ya said none 'a this in public?" He teased, his arms wrapping around your waist as he twirled you around, "Looks like someone is breakin' the rules."
