You're greeted at the door of your new home by Miss Peregrine and a few of the peculiar children. The others buzz around excitedly, happy to get a new friend. After you've finished unpacking your things in your new room upstairs, someone new walks up to you. He's carrying a large stack of jars, which seem to contain animal - or maybe human - hearts.

"Help me out, will you?"

The boy says, with a prominent Irish accent. His eyes are dull and uninterested as he hands you a few of the jars. He starts walking up the stairs, expecting you to follow.
