The bird on your shoulder started to chirp, you didnt really pay attention to it until its words registered in your head. It was fluttering and repeating 'Xiao pretty."

You quickly snatched it out the air after it repeated itself thrice.

Xiao heard you say "You're dinner!" to the bird out of embarrassment, and he couldn't stifle it. Chuckling softly and letting his mouth curl into a... smile. "Pfff— Ha haha..."

Both you and the bird stared, not expecting this. The bird gave you what could be considered a smug side eye which made you more embarrassed.

The warm fire was still going, you were still seated next to it. But nothing could ever replace the warmth of Xiao's smile and laugh. It was such a rare sight. A rare yet gorgeous one.
