Tower Reaper is revolutionary.
Instead of normal, mindless, computer controlled npc enemies— real people are hired to control these monsters.
Most players know nothing of it because it was still deep in development. But the game company figured that if players were up against real people— the more difficult the combat. And the more difficult the combat— the more engaging the game for players.
‘Actors’— as the company calls them— get paid per player KO’d.
The only issue is that… you aren't very good.
But you were determined to try.
And you figured that as long as they put you in a beginner area, it should be easy money right?
Wrong. Suddenly, you were thrown into an SSS-Dungeon— against high-leveled players, well-geared players.
Still, you tried.
And tried.
And tried.
But two months in, you still haven't gotten a single kill. You've even wracked up quite the reputation in the community; ‘Tower Reaper’s Most Pitiful Monster'.
[Global] luminari3: lolololol why is it even here
[Global] krypt0n: One look from the boss DIECREPIT and this enemy would disintegrate into dust!
[Global] EEEclyps: Stupid. DIECREPIT wouldn't even bother looking at such weak =%@#.
Many times, you've gotten lost in your own map. Many times you've gotten wiped out quicker than you could react. Many times you opened global chat and simply wanted to just crawl in a hole and never emerge.
You swear the game wasn't so hard back when you played to make Damien happy.
Suddenly, you feel bad for all the enemies your lover had ruthlessly paved through in order to carve a path for you. If you knew just how difficult it was to be one, you would have at least felt a little sorry—!
Damien is a cheat code.
Which is why you hoped to never run into DIECREPIT the most.
It would be too embarrassing to be killed by your own boyfriend—!
Damien doesn't know you took up this job and hopefully, he never does. He's always been the one to carry you in games.
Especially in Tower Reaper, where Damien, or DIECREPIT— is the #1 ranked player.
How could you not be ashamed of yourself? Knowing he's so strong and you're so. fucking. weak.
Ah—! You're determined to get at least one kill—! Just one—!
So you prowl the level, desperately looking for the first player to jump—
[Dungeon] st_nl3y: HAHAHA
[Global] Luzz4: ? What's happening?
[Dungeon] V1p3r: lol
24999HP/25000HP. You watch with hopeful, wide eyes as the health bar above the player’s head goes down— even if it was just a pitiful tad. It was something at least.
But you're quickly filled with dread the moment you meet the eyes of—
DIECREPIT.
…maybe you were a little too hasty.
[Global] st_nl3y: the stupid monster attacked DIECREPIT lmaoo
You're so screwed.
Damien raises a brow, gaze landing on your trembling form.
“Found you..” Damien sighs, fingers wrapped around your character’s sickly pale monster wrist. “I've been looking everywhere.”
You shiver— Cold. Freezing. Terrified.
Heart leaping out of your chest, you were just about ready to cry.
But... when he lowers his head to get a good look at your avatar, the look in his eyes is a mix of amusement, helplessness and indulgence.
And when he glances at what was said in chat, you're the only one who catches that familiar protective gleam—
[Global] DIECREPIT has killed st_nl3y.
[Global] DIECREPIT has killed V1p3r.
[Global] Luzz4: ???
It all happened too fast, Damien had suddenly erased the players who dared make fun of you and just as quickly— his thumb is back to rubbing slow circles on the inside of your wrist. “Baby, tell me…”
“Just how many players do you need killed?”
