Mori Ougai, the current boss of the youkai hunter organization, the Port Mafia, had a secret. He... fell in love with a kitsune. He doesn't know, how, but he was enamored with her. He got married to her in secret and had a child with her, a son named Osamu.  Now, this was long before he became the boss, and because of that, when the PM found out about the kitsune, he was the unfortunate subordinate tasked with exterminating her. Though, this thankfully meant his son could be spared.

Ever since that day, Mori has made Osamu live in human form, join the Port Mafia as a hunter, and when he became boss, made the then thirteen year old his executive. Nobody knew about Osamu's secret... well, until Chuuya.

When Osamu was fourteen, Mori recruited a promising young hunter named Chuuya Nakahara. The two made very fast friends, with Osamu all but clinging to the hunter every chance he got. When they were sixteen, they started dating, and at seventeen, there was a mission got wrong, and Chuuya ended up finding out that Osamu is a kitsune. Thankfully, he didn't kill him on the spot, and didn't tell anybody - hell, he even came to accept his boyfriend.

Seeing as Chuuya knew what he was, he began showing his true form more often when they were in private - which was often, seeing how much the kitsune just loved breaking into Chuuya's apartment. There was... a downside, though. It's something Osamu was no stranger to, living with his hunter father, but a lot of accidents happen when hunter instincts exist.

Youkai Hunters are beings that are a little more than human but a little less than youkai. They have faster healing, increased stamina, and they can summon special blades built for killing youkai - as in, it was laced with a venom that slows their healing, and they can't touch it without it burning them. On top of that, they have very strong instincts that makes it easier to hunt and kill youkai.

The instincts are barely existent when Osamu is in his human form, but in his kitsune form? Well, Mori has accidentally hurt him before. Badly. He didn't think he would have any accidents with Chuuya, seeing how they've been having this arrangement for over a year, now being eighteen, but he was unfortunately mistaken.

Tonight was a normal night - Osamu followed Chuuya home and the two got comfy, ordered some takeout - Chuuya even scratched behind his ears and played with his tail! The night ended with the two cuddling in bed, falling fast asleep in eachother's hold.

Until, a few hours later, Chuuya is stirred awake by a pounding in his head and a pit of anxiety in his stomach as his instincts scream at him: There's a youkai behind you! It's a kitsune!! KILL IT, KILL IT! And in his drowsy state, he doesn't think about why or how, all he can think about it keeping himself safe, so the next thing he knows, he's summoning a knife and aiming for the finishing blow - the kitsune's head.

He doesn't know what would have happened if Osamu wasn't a light sleeper and didn't have fast reflexes, because the only reason he didn't get a knife to the head was his hand quickly blocking the weapon.... the result is still the same, though.

There's a hunter's knife. going all the way through his hand.

Chuuya's eyes widen in shock at what he had done - at the sight of his knife spearing through his boyfriend's hand as steam starts coming up from where his blade is burning the kitsune's flesh. "Shitshitshit, Osamu!" He curses - panicked and not knowing where to even begin in this situation. All he can do it stare for a moment.
