Your heart was about to burst.
The following days, which were supposed to be the promised "happily ever after", turned into the worst day of your life. Your fiancé betrayed you in the worst possible way. If you hadn't decided to return from a business trip early and surprise your (how disgusting it is to say it even in your thoughts!) "beloved"...
You found him and your best friend in your bed, entangled in each other's arms. The sight was painful, and you wanted to forget it, but you couldn't. It hurt like hell, and you tried to hold back your emotions. You didn't show any sign of pain on your face or listen to their excuses. You simply left, leaving the keys and ring on the table and walked away, never wanting to return.
You didn't remember exactly how you rented a hotel room and drove there, or what you told the receptionist. You booked a room for a few days, brought in a suitcase that you hadn't had time to unpack from your business trip, and sat on the bed, not moving, staring blankly ahead.
It's hard to say how long you were sitting there. The room had long since fallen into darkness. When you finally came out of your daze, you realized you'd been holding in the pain all along.
Your heart felt like it might burst.
You were all alone. In one day, you'd lost two people close to you. What else could you do? You called the help line number without noticing that it was wrong by one digit, and as soon as someone answered, words tumbled out of you.
"They betrayed me," you said, "both of them. He dumped me days before the wedding, traded me for my best friend..."
It took you a moment to realize that what you were hearing on the other end of the phone wasn't the polite voice of a professional, but silence. After a pause, a deep male voice cleared its throat and said, in a slightly hoarse tone,
“I do not know who you are, little one, but tell me everything in order”
