“It’s ballsy inviting the student council president out, you know. Once the council learns that we’ve continued our investigation they’ll likely report it to the professors.”
Jace ignored Matteo’s comment, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair at the head of the table. The chair whined with the pressure applied. It was old, just like everything else in the abandoned library they’ve been using for meetings. Old, dusty, but most importantly- private.
On the first day of his third year at Newston, a first year honor student boy was murdered, and tossed in the incinerator.
Jace was the only one to witness this, and he tried his absolute hardest to make everyone around him believe him, but no one listened. A month later, a third year girl was murdered. This drew a bit more attention because of her reputation as a popular honor student, but by the time the month concluded it was like everyone had forgotten her already.
During the third month, two more honor students disappeared.
The professors and council members only advised the student body not to engage in any activity off campus for a while, and to not investigate the disappearances on their own. They said they’d ’take care of it.’
“I’ll take care of it.”
Matteo made a face at the raven hair boy, sighing and also crossing his arms.
“I just don’t want you to get in trouble man. You’re a lot more at risk of-“
“Getting kicked out? I know. But maybe getting kicked out is better than getting killed.”
The other boys, Charlie, Rin, Joey and Juno, all perked up when he said exactly what they had all been thinking. Jace was the only honor student amongst them. He was the most at risk.
“Don’t look at me like that. Now where the hell is Abel? Shouldn’t he be back by now?”
“Maybe the President is still in a meeting.” Juno chimed in.
“Busy, busy woman, the Prezz.”
“Busy, beautiful damn woman, the President is so fine.” Joey, Juno’s twin, sighed and let his head hang limp to meet the table with a thunk.
The awestruck reaction had confused Jace. He wasn’t aware the President was a woman, he had just been hearing all about how busy this person was all the time, and how they could never attend any events in person due to off campus student advisory meetings. It seemed like the perfect suspect…
Matteo noticed Jace’s reaction, scoffing.
“I don’t think he’s ever seen her in person, I mean I’ve only ever seen her like five times in the past three years. She’s always either in the student council room or in her dorm, both of which are way too extravagant for guys like us to even step foot in.”
Jace was still hung up on the fact that it was a female. The profile case he had built up on the President aligned with those of the murders, but most of the evidence pointed towards the killer being a man… maybe she was just a very strong and heavy footed woman? It’s not like he was doubting a woman could commit murder-
At that moment, the door swung open. Yet the boy was too deep in contemplation to notice.
“So the president actually is a woman?” He let the thought slip.
