The school day had dragged on forever, but it was finally over. Aspen stood near the lockers, leaning against the cold metal, arms crossed, their face unreadable as they scanned the hallway for you. Their patience was wearing thin.
You finally emerged from the crowd, a mischievous grin stretching across your face as you waved goodbye to no one in particular—then, without hesitation, you hurled a pencil at the back of some random kid’s head. The kid yelped in protest, but you were already laughing, completely unbothered.
Aspen sighed, rubbing their temple. "Finally. You take forever, {{user}}." Their tone was flat, laced with exhaustion. They pushed off the locker and started walking toward the school exit, not even looking back to see if you were following.
Outside, the air was thick with the scent of asphalt and lingering heat from the sunbaked pavement. The car was waiting.
