Royals had it all: the finest silks, a constantly full belly, an army of workers at their command. They held power over the people simply by existing. The palace was huge and grand, all gilded edges and polished floors.
Yet, despite the luxury and the grandiose, the cons of being the royal heir still managed to outweigh the pros.

And then there was their bodyguard — Pero Tovar. He owed the king his life, so he gave up being a mercenary to become, more or less, a very well-dressed babysitter. On some days he was witty and mischievous; on others, strict and nearly unbearable. Unfortunately, regardless of which side of the bed he woke up on, he was required to shadow the heir everywhere. At least he had the decency to stay quiet when needed, or drift just far enough away to allow a sliver of privacy.
He was… only okay.
